July 29th Update
Nokona 15u Chiefs Finish Top 10 out of 112 at Perfect Game World Wood Bat
Championship in East Cobb, Georgia!
13u Update:
Nokona participated in the 13u Triple Crown National Championships in Myrtle
Beach, South Carolina along with 40 other clubs. The Chiefs made it out of pool
play with an impressive 3-0 record and a top playoff seed heading into the
second round of the playoffs. Nokona defeated the Columbus, Ohio Sharks, the
Charlotte, NC Megastars and the Greenbriar, VA Panthers to achieve the #3
playoff seed. Nokona lost to a very tough Knoxville, TN Ranger team 5-4 and
wound up finishing likely 9th in the country based on run
differential. Great job by the 13u Team following their impressive New England
Championship!
15u Update:
Nokona participated in the 15u World Wood Bat Championship in East Cobb, GA
sponsored by Perfect Game. 112 teams from across the country attended the
exclusive event. The Chiefs won their pool and advanced to the Top 64 playoff by
defeating the New Jersey Young Guns 7-6 in Game 1 and the East Cobb Astros 2-0
in Game 2. Ryan Sullivan led the way in a dramatic come-from-behind victory over
the Young Guns. Down 6-2 with 2 outs and nobody on in the final frame, Sullivan
delivered a bases loaded triple and scored the winning run on a passed ball.
Ryan O’Shea was the story in defeating the mighty Astros on their home field in
Game 2. O’Shea dealt the Astros only their 2nd defeat of the season
in a complete game, 97 pitch, 2 hit gem. The Chiefs defeated the Banditos from
Texas 5-2 in the opening playoff game behind a Home Run & Double by Sullivan and
a great complete game performance on the hill from Troy Whitty. In the Round of
32, Nokona defeated # 6 seed Baseball Scouts from NC 3-0 behind a great outing
from Vin Scifo. Nokona ran into the eventual National Champion in the round of
16 and lost 5-1 to the 6-4-3 DP Cougars from Georgia. Based on the tourney
tie-breakers and only allowing 7 runs in 3 playoff games, Nokona likely finished
9th in the elite Championship, which would be the highest finish from
a New England team in years. Congratulations to the 15u team!
July 13th Update
Nokona 13u Chiefs win New England
AAU Diamond Division Championship!
13u Update:
Nokona participated in the 13u Diamond Division playoffs this past weekend and
took home the Championship! The Chiefs made it out of pool play with an
impressive run and into the Diamond Division semifinals, where they faced the #
1 seed and two-time defending Champion NE Firebirds. The Chiefs put on a show in
beating the Firebirds 9-1 on their home field. In the Championship Game, Nokona
traveled to Johnston, RI to face the offensive juggernaut, the RI Reds, on their
home field. Once again the resilient Chiefs jumped out to an early lead,
survived the Reds comeback, and put it away with 4 late runs to win 13-9!
Great job by Coach
Gonsalves and the entire team……more details to follow!
All 3 of our teams

their summer season on July 23rd.
14 Red Update:
The 14u Diamond Division playoffs took place this past weekend. Our Chiefs went
2-0 in poll play to qualify for the Diamond Division Semi-finals. We lost a
very tight and hard fought game in the Medal Round. Great job by Coach Colburn
and the entire team, who will be going to the Triple Crown Nationals in Myrtle
Beach.
15u Update:
Nokona participated in the 16u Northeast Baseball Summer Classic Showcase at
Assumption College this past weekend. The Chiefs went 3-0 while only
surrendering 1 run during pool play to make the Championship Game. Tyler
Keating, Vin Scifo and Brad McLean pitched complete game gems in pool play.
Nokona ran into a very tough 16u CT Heat team in the championship and lost 7-4.
Great job by the 15u squad in grabbing the silver medal. Nokona will play the
17u DBI squad this weekend to prepare for the World Wood Bat Championship in
East Cobb, GA next week.
